There are many causes of shoulder pain; here are some of the most common ones:
- Injury or trauma: Frozen shoulder can occur after an injury to the shoulder joint, such as a rotator cuff tear or fracture.
- Age: People between 40 and 60 are at higher risk of developing frozen shoulder.
- Systemic disease: Conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disease, or Parkinson’s disease can lead to frozen shoulder.
- Immobility: Prolonged immobilization of the shoulder joint, such as being in a cast or sling for an extended period, can cause frozen shoulder.
- Labral Tear: This is an injury to the labrum—the fibrocartilaginous rim surrounding the shoulder socket—caused by trauma or repetitive motion.
- Overuse: Repetitive use of the shoulder joint, such as throwing a ball or lifting weights, can lead to frozen shoulder.
